Tiresome Ritual

Selling your house in a market that has set rules about just how you go about making the greatest impact on the buyer is a pain. Perhaps it would not be too bad if you were not living in the house for sale but since we are there are hardship to be endured.

Theresa and I know how to play the game by now but it is stressful. Every morning we get our home all organized or staged and await that call from the agent. Usually the times are allotted in one hour segments and often there are overlapping visitations. We have to decide what we should do during the times as we are expected to be away from the home to give free hand to the agent to spin their magic.

We usually go shopping, drive around the neighbourhood or visit family. Calls come at all hours and we are constantly on alert for the next buyer. It is a necessary ritual and agents have an important role to play in the process. Good agents keep you informed and try to keep you on an even keel as some offers are downright ridiculous. In the end it turns out well as once there is a proper offer the agent and your lawyer do all the work and you can relax because you have sold your home.
